Situation
Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, mental stress has increased significantly among young adults. The Federal Statistical Office and various university-specific surveys also indicate that stress levels are particularly high among students. The aim of this project is to coordinate and strategically align efforts to improve mental health at Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH). To this end, a survey of BFH students will be conducted in April 2025 to answer the following three questions: 1) How are students at BFH? 2) What are the study-related stress factors for students at BFH? 3) What is the students' perception of existing measures and offers at BFH?
Course of action
The project includes an evaluation of the status quo at BFH, the definition of priority topics and the provision of best practices and resources to promote a health-promoting learning environment in the various departments at BFH.
Result
The project aims to achieve the following results: 1) Provision of an overview of the measures currently already in place at the departments, as well as the status of mental health. 2) Strategic orientation and possible focus topics of an student health management at BFH. 3) Concrete recommendations for action to promote the mental health of students.
Looking ahead
The project contributes to coordinating and strategically aligning efforts to improve mental health at Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH). By establishing interdepartmental student health management, interdisciplinary cooperation is to be promoted and the student body is to be involved in shaping a health-promoting university.
